We could not run a single successful meet without the efforts of all of the parent volunteers. No job is unimportant, whether you're Officiating the meet, running the concession stand, bring water to the timers, or just picking up forgotten towels, WE NEED YOU!. If you haven't had a chance to fill out a Family Commitment Form, please download one, fill it out and give to our Volunteer Coordinator, Grace Saldanha. You can, of course simply send Grace an email at: nikisal2000@hotmail.com

At each meet of the season, if you are volunteering for any portion of the meet (and this includes premeet or postmeet setup and cleanup) you are eligible to win a $5 gift card to Starbucks. Please stop by our volunteer table and put your name on the back of the red ticket. You keep the bottom half and put the top half in our bowl. Near the end of each meet, we will pull a ticket out and that parent will be the winner of the $5 gift card for that meet.

For each home meet we will need the following volunteers:

  • Timers - 9 with some alternates available
  • Stroke & Turn Judges - 2 certified officials (shadow officials welcome - some of you will be shadowing for the last time prior to certification)
  • Concessions - 3 or 4 folks to help out at the booth
  • 2 Card Runners
  • 2 Ribbon Writers
  • 2 Computer Operators
  • Clerk of Course
  • Assistant Clerk of Course
  • Child Walker (this is the parent who helps the coaches by getting the kids to report to Clerk of Course)
  • Setup (As many people as possible to help move chairs and do whatever else is necessary)
  • Cleanup (Put chairs back on deck, pick up stray trash, etc)

Deck officials: Stroke-and-turn, referees, starters - we REALLY need people to step up to these positions. A short training session is provided by the League on either Saturday June 2nd (8:00 AM - 11:00 AM) in Burke, or Wednesday June 6th (7:30p.m. - 10:30p.m.) in Ashburn. Let me know if you are interested, and I will email you the link for directions and the short test (that you can complete ahead of time, if you dare!).

Timers: As always, we welcome more timers as it means we can give our volunteers a break! Also, you will be in the best position to watch the swimmers!

Musicians: Anyone, child or adult, who would like to have the opportunity to sing or play the National Anthem. Any instrument, as long as it's portable!

Thanks to everyone who has handed in a volunteer form. We will do our best to assign you to the volunteer position(s) that you selected. Please be aware that occasionally there will be times when you cannot be given your first choice. We apologize for any annoyance or inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your willingness to be flexible.

SPECIAL NEED: Nearly everyone will be needed as volunteers for the Relay Carnival. In addition to many of the normal meet volunteer positions, there will be a number of other jobs that need to be performed. Sometime soon, committees will be forming to start the planning process for the Relay Carnival. Please plan to volunteer for this important, and highly profitable, event.
